Headache & Migraine

If you are suffering from headaches or migraines it is worth getting your eyes tested, having a check up with your GP and drinking more water and less alcohol & caffeine (diuretics) as dehydration is a common cause. However, most recurrent headaches & migraines are due to muscular problems. Usually this is a combination of painful trigger points in the neck, shoulders and scalp referring pain into the head and tight muscles/fascia pulling on the scalp. Small adhesions sticking the scalp to the skull and tight muscles under the scalp limiting blood draining from the brain can also be involved. I can effectively address such headaches using a combination of trigger point therapy, myofascial release, amma fusion, deep tissue work and stretching. Headaches can also be due to stuck/misaligned vertebrae which can usually be addressed by myself using advanced massage and mobilisations; however in some cases an osteopath will need to be seen for manipulation. Occasionally headaches can also be caused by displaced cranial bones and/or problems with the craniosacral system which a craniosacral therapist or cranial osteopath may be able to help with.
